Future of Home Appliances

GLOBAL HOME APPLIANCE COMPANY

Home Appliance of the Future

The pandemic had raised a renewed sense of living at home as working from home became the norm for people across the globe. A home appliance company based in Germany wanted to gather and test ideas for home appliances of the future and set a new standard for comfortable smart living.

As a Lead Strategist and Workshop Facilitator, I planned and facilitated ideation and concept development activities to uncover user needs and identify home appliance products that will set the tone for the future of home living.

CONCEPT TESTING WITH USERS

We presented 8 concepts to users based in China and Sweden. These countries were assigned by the client, as there are other agencies conducting concept testing for other countries.

IDEATION SESSION

Using the trends studies and opportunity areas identified by the client in the home appliance sector as prompts, we held internal ideation sessions to gather product ideas.

LEADERSHIP PRIORITISATION

We shared 13 product concepts with leadership and stakeholders to gather feedback and align with internal business goals. Of the 13 concepts, they selected eight for further testing with users.

Home Appliances for Minimal Spaces

Product concepts that are space-saving, portable, and multifunctional resonated well with users, given urban city dwellers have limited spaces in their home.

CONCEPT REFINEMENT

We took the ideas from the ideation session and refined them further to become product concepts with a key value proposition.
